Informatics Program

Educational Objectives of the Informatics Program

 Based on the growing societal demand for 21st-century STEAM professionals, the educational objective of the Department of Informatics is to develop individuals who can apply wide-ranging knowledge and transferable skills taking into account both the arts and sciences, in order support an ever-changing society with logical thinking skills and empathy. Through this program, students are supported in developing the following characteristics:

 

  1. Broad knowledge and a comprehensive perspective
  2. The ability to tackle advanced scientific and technological challenges by leveraging expertise in mathematics and information science
  3. The motivation and ability to identify new challenges in mathematics and information science and address societal needs
  4. The ability to respond to a rapidly evolving, diverse, and highly information-oriented society, with excellent abilities in information gathering, analysis, and communication
  5. An interest in interdisciplinary integration, capable of creating new seeds of innovation through flexible thinking and design skills, and able to respond to shifting societal needs
  6. Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, and a strong sense of entrepreneurship
  7. A strong sense of ethics, and excellent leadership and teaching skills

 

Fields of Study

 The Informatics Program is structured around two main fields: Mathematical Information Science and Information and Biomedical Engineering.

 To become professionals who can respond to societal needs, students will systematically study specific themes through multiple related courses within each field.
